快速成型技術在無需準備任何模具、刀具和工裝卡具的情況下,直接接受產品設計(CAD)數據,快速制造出新產品的樣件、模具或模型。因此,RP技術的推廣應用可以大大縮短新產品開發周期、降低開發成本、提高開發質量。
Rapid prototyping technology can directly accept product design (CAD) data and rapidly manufacture new product samples, molds or models without preparing any molds, tools and fixtures. Therefore, the promotion and application of RP technology can greatly shorten the new product development cycle, reduce the development cost and improve the development quality.
不同種類的快速成型系統因所用成形材料不同,成形原理和系統特點也各有不同。但是,其基本原理都是一樣的,那就是"分層制造,逐層疊加"。形象地講,快速成形系統就像是一臺"立體打印機"。而隨著快速成型技術應用和普及,越來越多的企業感受到該項技術在產品開發和設計過程中所帶來的效益。

3D打印技術是一系列快速原型成型技術的統稱,其基本原理都是疊層制造,由快速原型機在X-Y平面內通過掃描形式形成工件的截面形狀,而在Z坐標間斷地作層面厚度的位移,從而形成三維制件。
3D printing technology is the general name of a series of rapid prototyping technology. Its basic principle is laminated manufacturing. The rapid prototyping machine forms the cross-section shape of the workpiece by scanning in the X-Y plane, and displaces the layer thickness intermittently in the Z coordinate, so as to form 3D parts.
